Story: Larry, Curly, and Moe have joined the ranks of a popular club, though one that not everyone would want to be part of, the Woman Haters. The club promotes the virtues of friendship and a woman free life, especially free of marriage, which the club really frowns on. While the trio agree with the club’s rules, Larry has a secret that if discovered, would see him kicked out. He is going to get married and not even his closest friends now, but can he keep it hidden and stay in the club?
Entertainment Value: This is an interesting installment in the catalog of Three Stooges shorts, as it happens to be a musical. That means we hear the stooges sing and while that’s fun at first, it doesn’t maintain a good entertainment level here. The lyrics are fine, whimsical and light, but the word play isn’t that clever or humorous. A few light laughs perhaps, but there’s little to laugh about here, versus the usual slapstick antics of the stooges. The runtime is just under twenty minutes and the pace is fine, with some kind of jokes being unfurled at a brisk clip, I just wish this played to the strengths of the troupe, with a little time for the musical elements instead of the full duration. In the end, this is watchable and sometimes amusing, but it doesn’t rank with the better stooges material.
