Story: A mobster has big plans to rig a football game and cash in big, but the problem is, his team of choice needs some fresh talent. A trio of rugged players known as The Three Horsemen of Boulder Dam capture his attention, but little does he know a much different trio is in his future. After putting on football uniforms, Larry, Moe, and Curly are spotted by the girlfriends of the mobster and his friends, who think they’re the much praised Three Horsemen. But will this misunderstanding turn out fine or will the stooges end up on the wrong side of the mafia?
Entertainment Value: If you’ve ever wanted to see Lucille Ball as a mafia doll in a Three Stooges short, Three Little Pigskins is your chance. She has a small, but entertaining role and I think fans will really appreciate her turn here, as she is fun to watch as always. This short runs about twenty minutes and moves at a nice clip, sprinkling in laughs the entire duration. The scenes between the stooges and the mafia molls is hilarious, while the arrival of the mobsters adds to the chaos, including a memorable ragdoll drop at one point. I wouldn’t have minded a couple more big set pieces or more physical humor, but this is consistently humorous and never drags in the least. Three Little Pigskins is a fun watch and well worth a look for slapstick fans.
