Story: After a vibrator fueled masturbation session is upended by both a demonic presence and a shotgun blast, the sex toy involved becomes imbued with the supernatural evil. The cursed vibrator isn’t done with its reign of terror however, as it turns up at a creepy yard sale, where a newly single woman grabs up the used item, for some reason. As soon as the vibrator is in her possession, strange things begin to happen and the sexual energies are off the charts. But how long until the vibrator is summoned to unleash murderous evil once again?
Entertainment Value: Amityville Vibrator packs a lot into about an hour of duration, including graphic sleaze, over the top gore, and a sense of humor with little to no boundaries. This one is super low budget and very rough around the edges, but makes an impression and while inconsistent, has a lot of wild moments sprinkled around. The narrative has a great premise, with the possessed object concept seen in some of the other Amityville inspired pictures. But while the story does center on the cursed sex toy, there isn’t much else done with the narrative potential, which is a shame, given how much is possible here. The cast comes off like a group of friends and includes porn star Mallory Maneater, so performances aren’t good, but they do what needs to be done. I wish the story and dialogue had been dialed up into the insanity stratosphere, but as the finale rounds the corner, things are finally taken to that level. I appreciated the sleaze and obvious passion involved, so despite some dull stretches and inconsistent craziness, this one is recommended.
A wealth of naked flesh can be found here, including some graphic, vivid sexual elements. The first scene has a woman using a vibrator and the film shows us the entire process, so if you don’t want actual sex acts in your indie horror, the first minute shatters that. Most of the scenes have bare breasts or full nudity, with the naughty bits shown in full detail. This includes mostly naked women, but we are shown some dick as well, so there’s that. Other highlights include a girl on girl dildo session, a closeup of a dick hole, a clit rubbing nun, paranormal nipple hardening, and of course, a crucifix inspired dildo. The gore is infrequent, but splashy when it is seen and thanks to indie horror marvels James & Mae Bell, the bloodshed is well crafted. A wild head explosion will likely result in a lot of rewinding and slow motion, but we also have some goopy stab wounds, a nice face removal, vibrator dentistry, some disembowelment, and a wicked sequence where a hand is slowly lopped off. The dialogue has a couple bright spots, but otherwise comes off as lame and even cringe inducing. The mushroom trip scene almost sinks the entire movie, dragging things to a complete halt and lowering the film’s appeal more than a little. Take the sex and blood, which already gives the insanity scale some movement, but there’s also more. A ventriloquist doll goes bananas in one of the movie’s most memorable scenes, Jesus gets a facial, there’s an anti-weed rant, and a Plan 9 style floating dildo.
