Plot: In the near future, the cost of gasoline has skyrocketed to levels that only the super wealthy can afford. As such, very few people drive and seeing a car on the road is quite rare. But vegan schoolteacher Archie (Mike Brune) is determined to find a natural, cheap solution that will reopen the path for transportation. He has experimented with an engine that runs on wheatgrass, but his results have been less than impressive. But at least he is keeping a natural foods vendor (Anna Chlumsky) in business, though he is totally unaware of her crush on him. One night the engine starts to run strong, but Archie discovers the reason is because he cut his finger and bled into the wheatgrass fuel. He cuts himself to collect more blood and soon, he is out on the road and getting laid by a wild meat vendor, Denise (Katie Orr). But if he wants to keep enjoying her many talents, he needs more fuel and in turn, more blood. As a vegan with a love for living creatures, can he push himself to collect more blood, even if it means going against what he believes in?

Entertainment Value: Blood Car is all about blood, murder, and sacrifice, as well as other things guys are willing to endure to have sex. The story is interesting, as a pretentious vegan has to balance his core beliefs against nailing a hot slut, which is no simple task. The tone is over the top, with Archie making massive shifts in character with little to no build up, so don’t expect skilled development here. He basically goes from a good natured, caring guy to a total psychopath overnight, but hey, this is a movie about cars that run on blood. But Blood Car is a lot of fun and doesn’t hold back, piling on the sex and violence. Mike Brune is fine in the lead, but he is usually overshadowed by his costars, who often more to the table. Katie Orr is bursting with profane charisma, so it is easy to accept how she enraptures Archie with ease. A number of small, but colorful roles also flesh out the cast. There’s not much depth or logic in this one, but it has a dark sense of humor and no fear when it comes to outrageous moments. So for those who like dark comedies or horror movies, well worth a look.

There’s a good amount of sex in this one, but not all that much naked flesh. A handful of brief topless shots is the extent of the nakedness, but its a nice assortment, including a pair of the fakest fake tits you’ll ever bear witness to. More violence than breasts though, with a lot of the red stuff spraying around. Most of the kills are off screen, as Archie shoves people into his trunk, so things aren’t often that graphic. And some of the more memorable kills involve CGI, which is a let down. But there’s still a fair level of blood in this one, just not many creative or graphic kills. The dialogue is the film’s strongest point, with a lot of stand out lines. Denise is a fun character who embraces her love of instant gratification, so she’s ripe with profane sex talk and selfish barbs. There’s also a great scene where Archie is interrogated and the agent just goes off the deep end, with a spiral of hilarious nonsense. So fun lines are frequent and even small roles are usually given a little time to shine. This movie gets wild at times, but the slapstick tone kind of dampens the craziness. Even so, the colorful characters, wild dialogue, and non PC approach earn some points. Plus, you gotta give some crazy credit to a movie that executes kids and throws a newborn into the blood car’s thresher.
