Story: Leontine has been hired to deliver a valuable hat to a milliner’s customer, which is a simple enough task, but nothing is ever simple with Leontine. She decides to liberate the ornate headpiece from its giant, oversized hatbox and wear it herself. But while she is having fun running around with the hat and causing trouble, will she land in hot water when its time to answer for her madcap antics?
Entertainment Value: Leontine Becomes an Errant Girl only runs three minutes and is an incomplete version of the short film. The movie was considered lost for decades, but a partial print was discovered and now we have these few minutes of Leontine to appreciate. The surviving footage is enjoyable and shows the manic, unhinged personality of the character, which is irresistible, even if her actions are over the top. I would love to see the entire short of course, but I had a good time with the few minutes of footage that remains and for fans of wacky, classic slapstick, this is well worth a look.
