Story: While normally a mild mannered type chap, Curly happens to have a talent no one knows about and his friends Moe and Larry are about to discover that hidden skill. When Larry happens to play Pop Goes the Weasel on his violin one day, Curly experiences a total shift in himself and he turns into a fighting machine. His strength increases and his toughness knows no bounds, at least as long as Larry keeps the music going. Moe decides to push Curly into prize fighting, but even with his special serenade, can Curly overcome the champ?
Entertainment Value: This classic short from The Three Stooges runs about seventeen minutes and is a lot of fun, with some very memorable set pieces. I think the scene where the stooges help a stranded motorist is the funniest sequence here, with all three stooges trying to impress the driver while putting each other down. I also enjoyed the boxing scenes immensely and I wish there were more, just because they work so well and help the premise shine. There are also some wild stunts here and of course, sight gags, pratfalls, and other bursts of humor. I think this is a terrific short that showcases the stooges so well, so it earns a high recommendation.
