Story: Moe, Larry, and Curly have managed to get installed at a large, busy hospital as doctors, a questionable choice, to be sure. As the intercom constantly sounds off calling the trio to one medical situation to another, the three manage to somehow show up to every call and somehow bungle each request. The three even attempt some rushed surgery on their boss, who swallowed the combination to the safe with radium inside, using a heavy hammer instead of anesthesia. But will the patients and staff survive this level of medical malpractice?

Entertainment Value: This short runs just under twenty minutes and it was nominated for an Academy Award, though I wouldn’t rank it with the best from these comedy legends. The premise alone is off the wall, with the trio here as doctors and while the mischief is solid at times, there’s just not a lot going on here most of the time. I enjoyed several of the set pieces, especially the outrageous surgery scene with the hospital administrator and the recurring intercom hijinks, but there just aren’t a lot of memorable scenes here and there is a lot of time between those good spots. The pace doesn’t feel slow per se, it just slower than the usual manic, wall to wall craziness these three often produce. Even so, there are some laughs here and fans of the trio should have a good time here.
