Plot: At the Florence Nightingale Institute, young women learn how to be top flight nurses and how to never wear underwear. Dr. Cabala (Sebastian Brook) insists on the nurses being nude under their dresses, strictly for sanitation purposes, of course. The women take in lessons from Cabala, learning all about anatomy, then give each other private lessons in the off hours. The institute has a serious problem however, as people are being murdered by an unknown assailant. A couple was exploring their reproductive systems when a maniac struck and more bodies are turning up over time. Detective Kinkaid (Donn Greer) soon arrives to make sense of the crimes, but he is greeted with numerous suspects and no concrete evidence. Can Kinkaid stop the killer before its too late, or will no one be safe to fornicate at the institute?

Entertainment Value: One of the holy grails of the VHS days, The Jekyll and Hyde Portfolio is one odd duck. A blend of low rent slasher and softcore sex, the film is a wild ride that defies explanation. The story is just a basic killer on the loose tale, but there’s not much of a connection to Jekyll and Hyde most of the time. Perhaps they forgot the title and at the last minute threw in a reference so it would kind of make sense. The cast is not going to dazzle, but some of the performances are enjoyable in a camp sense. The pace is kind of slow though, even at 81 minutes. The movie sputters as all it attempts to be, sex movie, horror movie, and murder mystery. But those failings and the general nonsense of the movie are what make this worth a look. If you like manic, off the rails movies that don’t know what the hell they’re doing, this is one to look out for. If nothing else, it is cool to have a rare curio readily available at long last.

This movie has some beautiful girls on the cast and thank the frogs, most of them get naked here. There’s a nice lesbian scene between two nurses that starts off as an attempt to warm up, by getting naked and sharing a bed. Another interesting scene finds a female doctor using an iron claw on the vagina of a student. This scene isn’t graphic, but it pushes the line quite close. In any event, The Jekyll and Hyde Portfolio has a good deal of topless and full frontal scenes on showcase. The stage blood flows like wine here, well maybe like a bottle or so anyway. Aside from a myriad of frog dissections and a chicken head chop, we have some blood in several scenes. The killer unleashes a pitchfork on a girl on a swing, interrupts barn sex to kill folks, and just behaves like a real cockblock. Not drenched in blood, but this one has some red stuff for the horror fans. A lot of porn level dialogue to latch onto, delivered in porn level performances. This is an incoherent mess of a movie that is crazy as shit and fun as hell to watch.
