Plot: Tromaville High is situated next to a nuclear power plant, so it is no surprise when toxic waste begins to creep into the school’s water supply. The honor society has gone from respectful students to wild maniacs, a nerd is killed in a horrific meltdown, and all kinds of shit is going down. The former honor students also happen to sell weed, which is of course grown at the power planet. This tainted weed offers an “atomic high” and causes some wicked hallucinations and other side effects. Soon enough, the school is in total chaos and things only spiral deeper and deeper into madness. Can anyone manage to survive this ordeal, let alone save the school?

Entertainment Value: Troma has a formula and it works, so Class of Nuke ‘Em High has all the Troma elements you expect. The narrative is a simple one and combines teen comedy tropes, horror, and vigilante cinema traits. The humor is broad and low brow, as it should be and tends to work most of the time. The dialogue is just outlandish and the cast is, well…the Troma usual. That means the acting is bad, but insanely fun to watch and the cast is colorful, diverse, and memorable. I love how Troma makes each character have a unique visual style, even the smaller roles tend to stand out in that regard. So ample violence, madcap humor, and the usual Troma trimmings, all on showcase. This movie isn’t going to win over viewers who don’t like Troma’s other movies, but for those who do, Class of Nuke ‘Em High is a fun one.

Not as much nudity as you’d expect from Troma, with only a couple of brief topless scenes to be found. A third scene offers a very short look at one boob, but that’s it. But the movie does ramp up on the violence side, with both solid gore and outrageous special effects, all done in the typical Troma style. The bladder effects are fun, but the assorted limbs cut off and other gore also stand out. The nerd melting into goop is perhaps the most iconic effect from Class of Nuke ‘Em High, however. In any event, you get a good amount of blood and gore effects, plus a radiated oral pregnancy birthed into a toilet. A lot of bad, but hilarious lines in this one, though not the kind you remember and quote later. Pretty wild stuff throughout, but then Troma flicks always are. Not as unhinged as some, but a fun and wild ride.

Nudity: 2/10

Blood: 7/10

Dialogue: 3/10

Overall Insanity: 6/10
